I recently scored a classic at a local estate sale: a Red Rawlings RBG58R Baseball Glove featuring the stamped signature of MLB legend Darryl Strawberry. Finding a glove from the mid-1990s in the wild is always a treat, especially one tied to such an iconic player. I only paid $3.00 for it, but it definitely needed some TLC. When I first got it, the leather was incredibly dry and stiff—basically a brick shaped like a baseball glove. I spent some time washing it and applying several rounds of glove conditioner to bring that leather back to life. I even played some catch with my son to help break it back in. It’s a really cool collectible, and it felt great seeing it return to usable shape.
It took a minute for the right buyer to come along on eBay, but patience paid off. I ended up selling it for $22.00, and the buyer was thrilled, even leaving some great positive feedback. It’s always satisfying to save a piece of sports history from a land fill and getting it into someone's collection.
